Senex Energy (ASX: SXY) has successfully completed multi zone fracture stimulation of its Sasanof-1 unconventional gas exploration well in PEL 516, Cooper Basin.
The program targeted 4 intervals within the Permian section, fracturing the upper and lower Patchawarra tight sands, as well as the Roseneath and Murteree shales.
Senex will now clean up the well to remove fracture stimulation fluid and any excess sand from the well bore.
During this time, it will measure and observe the behaviour of the well to assess gas deliverability and quality.
Preliminary test results are expected within about 2 weeks.
Sasanof-1 is the first of three dedicated unconventional gas wells Senex will drill in its 100%-owned PEL 516 in the 2011/12 financial year. It is located 40 kilometres north west of the successful Vintage Crop-1 well, which delivered an oil discovery and showed very favourable conditions for unconventional gas.
Drilling of the second well – Talaq-1 – is currently underway while Skipton-1 will spud in June.
