Senex Energy (ASX: SXY) has spudded the fourth of six oil exploration wells it is drilling with Beach Energy (ASX: BPT) that target the Birkhead channel play on the Cooper Basin western flank.
Tigercat-2 is located in PEL 104 about 6.5 kilometres east of the prolific Growler oil field in PRL 15.
It is also located just over 1 kilometre from the Tigercat-1 oil well that was cased and suspended as a future production well in 2008 after encountering 7 metres of net oil pay.
The well is being drilled by the Ensign Rig 48 to a total depth of 1850 metres following which the rig will move to the Snatcher oil field in the adjacent PEL 111 to drill the Snatcher-4 and Snatcher-6 appraisal wells as well as the Mustang-1 and Tomcat-1 oil exploration wells.
Senex holds a 60% operating interest in PEL 104 and PEL111 while Beach holds the remaining 40% stake.
