Rumble Resources gains foothold in Gibson Desert, exploring for IOCG system

Rumble Resources (ASX: RTR) has acquired a 1,305 square kilometre landholding in the Gibson Desert region of Western Australia, an area considered prospective for large iron oxide-copper-gold systems.

The Leyland Project is strategically situated adjacent to Corazon Mining’s (ASX: CZN) Top Up Rise Project, which is considered prospective for Olympic Dam/Prominent Hill style IOCG mineralisation.

Indicating the potential for the discovery of an IOCG system at the newly acquired project, Corazon’s Top Up Rise hosts one of the largest untested gravity anomalies in Australia, similar in size to the Olympic Dam geophysical anomaly.

Two of the three Leyland Project tenements are located around 15 and 20 kilometres respectively from the main Top Up Rise gravity anomaly.

Previous exploration has been carried out in the area by BHP Billiton (ASX: BHP) and more recently by Toro Energy (ASX: TOE).

Toro Energy completed rock chip sampling on an adjacent tenement, which returned significant iron up to 56% along with up to 4% total rare earths, anomalous copper (639 parts pet million) and uranium oxide (82 parts per million).
