Rumble Resources (ASX:RTR) has discovered a major artisanal mining site on its Bompela permit at the Derosa gold project in Burkina Faso with an estimated 4000 plus artisanal miners.
The site covers an area of about 400 metres by 200 metres.
The artisanal mining was triggered by the discovery of gold mineralisation on the side of a small laterite capped hill.
The gold mineralisation occurs as a vein stockwork developed in a competent granodiorite and is typical of granitoid-hosted gold deposits.
Rock chip samples of the site show grades of up to 16 grams per tonne of gold.
The Bompela permit forms part of Rumble's Derosa project, which is a joint venture with Canyon Resources (ASX:CAY).
The project consists of 6 contiguous tenements covering an area of over 1,300 square kilometres in a region that is close to many significant West African gold projects.
Future exploration work will include a detailed litho-structural and regolith mapping of the east, west, north and south areas of the Bompela permit over a target area of 16 square kilometres.
It will also include rock chip sampling of outcrops and the planning of a reverse circulation drilling campaign to target the artisanal site.
