Yancoal declares force majeure at Yarrabee

Yancoal (ASX:YAL) has declared force majeure on several coal sales contract for the Yarrabee mine in central Queensland following landfall by ex-tropical cyclone Oswald, which severed the rail corridor from the mine to Gladstone port.

Yarrabee, along with several other mines on the same Blackwater rail corridor are currently unable to rail coal from the mines to the port in Gladstone.

The mine was affected by heavy rain from 24 to 27 January, which required the temporary suspension of mining operations due to localised flooding. While mining operations have re-started, ponded water within the mining operational areas will likely impact Yarrabee for several weeks.

However, coal haulage from Yarrabee mine to the Boonal rail loadout facility are continuing normally.
