Renaissance Uranium (ASX: RNU) has identified five areas of strong anomalous gold geochemistry from initial multi-element soil sampling results at its 100%-owned Cutana Project in north-eastern South Australia.
Cutana is immediately north of the White Dam gold mine, operated by Polymetals Mining Limited (ASX: PLY) in joint venture with Exco Resources Limited (ASX: EXS).
Sampling coverage was designed to cover areas of interpreted major structures, prospective for gold, copper and uranium mineralisation. The gold was identified in the Shorts Dam prospect area in the southern half of Renaissance’s northern tenement block.
These areas represent clusters of anomalous gold above a threshold of 3 ppb (parts per billion), with peak values above 10 ppb gold within the three most western anomalous areas (A,B and C) and 5 ppb in the two most eastern anomalous areas (D and E).
Additional assay results are pending from the larger southern block of the project area and follow-up work will include infill geochemical sampling and drilling of gold targets
Renaissance Uranium holds interests in eight projects covering about 18,000 square kilometres with tenements located in the key mineral provinces of South Australia and the Northern Territory.
