The market was a mixed bag today with a few of the small cap healthcare stocks managing to gain despite the broader market falling marginally.
The All Ordinaries dropped 8.7 points to 4,158.6, while the S&P/ASX 200 lost fractionally more with a change of 8.8 points to 4,093.3.
The small cap healthcare stocks managed to do better than a number of the large caps, with medical device company Analytica (ASX: ALT) leading the charge on a 14.3% jump to A$0.02.
Also witnessing moves of more than 5% were Cbio (ASX: CBZ) and Allied Healthcare Group (ASX: AHZ), both with rallies of 5.6% to $0.19 and $0.04 respectively.
Drug delivery specialist OBJ (ASX: OBJ) stayed in the green with a 5% increase to $0.02.
Genetic Technologies (ASX: GTG) increased 4.5% to almost $0.12, while oral immunotherapy specialist Immuron (ASX: IMC) moved up 2% to $0.05.
Alchemia (ASX: ACL) only just made the movers list with a 1.8% shift up to nearly $0.29.
Most of the small cap stocks remained unchanged today, however a handful found themselves in red territory including diagnostic company HealthLinx (ASX: HTX) which shed 9.1% to $0.01.
Medical device developer ImpediMed (ASX: IPD) joined the losers today with a 7.2% plummet to $0.52, while Biotron (ASX: BIT) wiped off 4.2% to hit $0.12.
Meanwhile, hearing implant developer Cochlear (ASX: COH) and biopharmaceutical giant CSL (ASX: CSL) were the two large cap stocks to move in a northerly direction today, registering a 3.9% and 0.9% increase respectively to $55.38 and $31.14.
