Pilbara Minerals identifies potential anomalies in the West Pilbara

Pilbara Minerals (ASX: PLS) has identified a large number of potential anomalies at the company's West Pilbara exploration licenses, through the interpretation of the tenement-wide VTEM survey carried out in August and September 2010.

The company said approximately 25 of these are classified as high priority anomalies, that are inferred to indicate extensive subsurface sulphide bodies, with potential for hosting basemetal and silver / gold deposits.

Pilbara Mineral added a number of approaches had been received from different parties offering opportunities to acquire or joint venture in tenements both in Australia and offshore locations, in recent months, which the company said it is continuing to assess.

The company has four project areas in the West Pilbara, known as Mt Wohler, Pyramid, Maitland and Kylena, which cover 1,715 square kilometres and are considered to be prospective for base metals, PGE and/or gold mineralisation associated with concealed greenstone sequences or layered mafic – ultramafic intrusions.

The Seluma Iron Sands Project in Bengkulu Province, Sumatra, consists of a single lease considered to be prospective for iron rich heavy mineral sands within beach sands and sand dunes.
