Panorama Synergy (ASX: PSY) is holding firm with 2000% gains in two months, and last traded at $0.115.
Renewed interest in the technology sector has seen support for Panorama, which is developing an optic readout technology for micro-electromechanical systems that is purportedly 100 times faster and more sensitive than technology currently available.
Gino Putrino, a PhD in microelectrics from the University of Western Australia, is developing two optic sensing techniques, in conjunction with Panorama, who has patented the technology in the U.S.A.
The first technique involves cantilever beams being used as optical waveguides. As the cantilever moves, the coupling of light through the waveguide is modulated, thus transferring the cantilever motion on to the output optical signal.
The second technique uses a waveguide to feed a diffraction grating below a cantilever beam as a reflector, thus creating an optically-resonant cavity.
The technology has the potential to detect lung cancer in a patient's breath, give near instant blood test results, and detect ultra-low levels of toxic gases, along with a myriad of other applications in multiple industries.
Notably, Panorama is driven by two senior executives from Cisco Systems (NASDAQ:CSCO), the $120 billion US tech giant.
Aidan Montague, director and chairman of Panorama, was formerly Director of Strategic Alliances for Cisco Systems, where he forged alliances with major telcos in China, Australia and Europe.
And Terry Walsh, Panorama's CEO, was Managing Director of Cisco's Australian and New Zealand operations, before being promoted to CEO of Cisco Canada, where he tripled Cisco Canada's revenues during 5 years at the helm.
Panorama is now capitalised at around $55 million.
