Octagonal Resources (ASX: ORS) has initiated an 8,000 metre aircore drilling program targeting gold at the Hogan Project in Western Australia.
Exploration will test the potential of the Salt Creek, Lucky Bay Gravity Trend and the Burns Prospect to host a major gold deposit.
Highlighting the potential of the area, the project is just 70 kilometres southeast of the 70 million ounce Kalgoorlie Super Pit.
Hogan covers an area of 379 square kilometres within the Eastern Goldfields and is located near towns of Camilya Hill, Coogee and Kambalda.
Octagonal follows up on exploration previously conducted by WMC and Newmont Mining (NYSE: NEM) subsidiary Newmont Exploration.
Previous aircore drilling included footprints of 80 metres by 640 metres and 160 metres by 320 metres of spaced drilling.
Highlights from the drilling include:
- 5 metres at 0.76 grams per tonne (g/t) gold from 30 metres;
- 4 metres at 0.15g/t gold from 36 metres; and
- 10 metres at 0.15g/t gold from 44 metres.
Alliance Resources (ASX: AGS) holds a 22% interest in Octagonal while Newmont holds an 8% stake.
