Jumbo Interactive eyes US$56 billion U.S. lottery market with landmark ruling

Jumbo Interactive (ASX: JIN) is working towards securing contracts with state lottery operators after the United States Department of Justice recently handed down its ruling allowing internet lottery sales.

The company has appointed two senior US-based lottery executives to assist in efforts to play an integral role in the US$56 billion U.S. lottery market.

Jumbo has spent the past 11 years growing lottery sales in Australia via the Internet and its in-house technology.

The company began working with the U.S. state lotteries in 2009 in anticipation of the U.S. Department of Justice eventually clarifying the Wire Act and effectively giving U.S. state lotteries the green light for internet lottery sales.

Jumbo has appointed 20 year veterans of the American lottery markets Brian Roberts and John Carson to its team working with North and South American lotteries.

Roberts and Carson have each been issued with 500,000 3-year $0.70 options contingent on Jumbo signing a contract with a lottery operator.

Roberts is specifically focusing on the North American markets while Carson is focusing on the central and South American markets.
