IMX Resources (ASX: IXR) is ready for the 2011 field season at the Nachingwea Ni-Cu sulphide joint venture in Tanzania, and has secured drilling equipment.
The joint venture has secured the services of Tanzanian-based drilling contractor Tandrill Limited, which will supply two drill rigs to carry out 15,000 metres of diamond drilling.
The new drilling will start in early June testing for extensions at the Sleeping Giant deposit, which remains highly prospective as mineralisation is open in all directions.
Drilling will initially focus on testing the shallow high grade mineralisation intersected in 2010, which included; 2.58% nickel and 0.41% copper over 23.3 metres, and 2.28% nickel and 0.57% copper over 17.25 metres.
Exploration will also test for similar deposits along the western side of the Ntaka Intrusion, including follow-up of a drill hole from 2008 which intersected disseminated nickel sulphide mineralisation at the end of hole, returning; 0.63% nickel and 0.12% copper over 4 metres.
Nachingwea has a NI 43-101 compliant Mineral Resources which is Measured and Indicated of 60,900 tonnes of contained nickel, and an Inferred 131,000 tonnes of contained nickel.
IMX holds a 25% stake, with partner Continental Nickel (TSXV: CNI) 75%.
