Estrella Resources (ASX:ESR) has completed its initial diamond core drilling program at the Colupo copper prospect in Chile to determine strike and dip of the structural contacts.
The diamond holes will assist in validating the current geological model and the geometrical nature of the multiple breccia system and subsequent mineralisation.
Deeper extensions of multiple mineralisation zones were also targeted to assist in delineating an initial JORC resource.
Visual inspection of cores from the first two diamond holes at Colupo have observed copper oxides and chalcocite mineralisation
Estrella expects the diamond core assay results to be received in March and released to the market immediately.
The diamond rig has now been mobilised to the Dania prospect and drilling is now underway.
The Colupo, Dania and Ivannia Prospects, all within Project Altair and all within close proximity of each other, are located along fault splays of the Atacama Fault System that also extends over Antofagasta Minerals’ (LON:ANTO) Antucoya deposit.
Antofagasta has also applied to drill 300 reverse circulation holes at its La Reina project between Michilla and Estrella’s Altair Project.
