Estrella Resources (ASX: ESR) has intersected expected copper oxide and chalcocite mineralisation from drilling at the Colupo Prospect within the Altair Project in Chile.
Satellite borne multispectral data has also identified the Colupo Norte Prospect with copper oxide mineralisation at surface just 3 kilometres north-northwest of Colupo.
Altair is located close to Antofagasta Minerals’ (LON:ANTO) Antucoya porphyry deposit. Antofagasta has also applied to drill 300 reverse circulation holes at its La Reina project between Michilla and Estrella’s Altair Project.
Visual inspection of cores from the first two diamond holes at Colupo have observed copper oxides and chalcocite mineralisation consistent with previous visual observations from its reverse circulation drilling in the fourth quarter of 2013.
Drilling is ongoing and first assays are expected in March 2014.
The company has prepared five at surface trenches at Colupo Norte.
Mineralisation at the new prospect appears to have similarities to the current identified exploration dataset at Colupo.
Estrella is currently mapping and trenching at Colupo Norte in preparation for reverse circulation drill testing, most likely as part of the next reverse circulation drilling campaign at Colupo.
