Estrella Resources (ASX: ESR) has completed four drill holes at the Colupo prospect, Altair project in Chile, with each hole intersecting multiple mineralised IOCG breccias that extend laterally near surface and vertically to at least 150 metres depth.
Drillholes are up to 208 metres; breccias intersected by the drill holes appear to be steeply dipping and can be projected to surface, likely associated with strong limonitic alteration mapped in historical trenches.
Notably, strata-bound mineralisation was observed beneath the oxide zone, adding a significant new dimension to resource potential.
Drilling has yet to reach the sulphide mineralisation below the zones of supergene enrichment and oxidation as these profiles continue deeper than expected.
Copper minerals visually observed in drill holes include atacamite, chrysocola, cuprite and chalcocite; samples have been sent to laboratory with initial results expected shortly.
Estrella expects assays to confirm copper mineralisation continues within the breccia structures to at least 150 metres vertical depth, an increase of 80 metres from historical drilling and for mineralisation to remain open at depth
The multi-mineralisation system at Colupo appears consistent with nearby operating mines such as Mineria Chilena's the Mantos de la Luna mine with a measured mineral esource of 40.5 million tonnes at 1.39% copper.
