Cynata Therapeutics snares former AstraZeneca project manager to advance stem cell technology

Cynata Therapeutics (ASX: CYP) has secured the services of Dr Kilian Kelly as Vice President of Product Development.

Dr Kelly will be a member of Cynata’s executive management team and will lead the regulatory, pre-clinical and clinical development of the company's proprietary Cymerus™ stem cell product pipeline.

Dr. Kelly most recently served as Senior Director for Drug Development at Biota Pharmaceuticals, and has held a variety of regulatory and project management positions with Kendle International, Amgen (NASDAQ:AMGN) and AstraZeneca (NYSE:AZN).

AstraZeneca and Amgen are both capitalised at around USD$80 billion.

Kilian has prominent expertise in stem cell product development for therapeutic regenerative medicine applications and significant clinical development experience in the pharmaceutical industry.

Cynata, formerly known as EcoQuest (ASX:ECQ) took the leap into stem cells via its acquisition of Cynata Inc.

Cynata has focused its attention on the Cymerus technology, which seeks to fill a gap in the process of taking stem cells from the laboratory into widespread therapeutic use.

Potentially it could enable the manufacture of billions of human stem cells to facilitate commercial-scale production.
