Corazon Mining (ASX: CZN) has intersected high grade nickel copper sulphide in all three holes drilled into an EM conductor below the historic EL Mine, which is hosted within the Lynn Lake nickel sulphide project in Canada.
Highlighting the prospectivity of the area, the Lynn Lake nickel camp is Canada’s third largest nickel mining region, which produced 22 million tonnes of nickel/copper/cobalt ore between 1953 and 1976.
The EL Mine was the highest grade mine in the district and produced 1.9 million tonnes at 2.5% nickel and 1.15% copper between 1954 and 1962.
Corazon said that the results provide conclusive evidence that the large EM conductors defined coincide with strong sulphide mineralisation and nickel, copper, cobalt mineralisation.
The highlight was a new hole intersected over 32.72 metres included two zones of semi-massive and sulphide breccia with widths of 1.44 metres and 6.97 metres. Samples have been submitted for analysis.
A second hole announced last month intersected 2.4 metres of massive sulphide exhibiting high-grade nickel-copper mineralisation, with results pending within days.
A previously announced discovery hole returned 23.75 metres at 3.34% nickel, 1.54% copper and 0.079% cobalt.
The company said that the true dimensions of the mineralisation associated with the EM conductors have yet to be determined, with drilling intersecting a relatively flat upper bounding fault, in contact with high-grade mineralisation.
Further drilling of the conductor will continue which has a target depth of around 900 metres.
