Centaurus Metals (ASX: CTM) is edging closer to production at the Jambreiro Iron Ore Project in Brazil, lodging the Environment Impact Assessment (EIA) with the State environmental authority.
The company hopes to receive EIA approval and a Preliminary Licence grant in October this year. Following granting of the Preliminary Licence, Centaurus will apply for a licence to allow construction of the plant and equipment to begin on site.
Centaurus is targeting construction at Jambreiro in April 2013, and first ore by the end of 2013.
The Jambreiro Project has a maiden JORC Reserve of 49 million tonnes at 28.2% iron, released in November 2011.
At Jambreiro, Centaurus is aiming to develop a high grade iron ore operation that will initially produce 2 million tonnes per annum before ramping up to 3 million tonnes per annum.
