Attila Resources (ASX: AYA) has completed gas desorption tests that demonstrate that a simple ventilation system is all that is required to safely manage methane gas at the Attila’s Coke and Atkins Seams of its Kodiak Coking Coal Project in Alabama.
The test returned average gas yields of 5.1 square metres per tonne and 6.3 square metres per tonne for the Coke and Atkins seams respectively, which compare favourably with its U.S. peers.
This will help the company incorporate a detailed design and costing for an appropriate ventilation system as it moves towards completion of a Bankable Feasibility Study.
This is targeted for completion in the March Quarter of 2014.
Pre-Feasibility work has demonstrated that Attila has the potential to deliver hard coking coal at an all in cash cost that is in the bottom 10% of all international metallurgical coal producers
Attila has a 70% interest in Kodiak, which has Proved and Probable Ore Reserves of 48.2 million tonnes and an Exploration Target of 87 million to 93 million tonnes of coal over four coal seams.
