Alara Resources (ASX: AUQ) has commenced a drilling program at the Khnaiguiyah Zinc Copper project in Saudi Arabia, designed to build upon extensive historical drilling over the last 40 years.
The program represents a significant step in advancing the Bankable Feasibility Study (BFS) for the project.
The program comprises over 45,000 metres in 345 reverse circulation (RC) and diamond drill holes conducted within the project area and aims to procure samples for metallurgical testwork for the final flow sheet design.
It also aims to selectively validate historical drilling and complete geotechnical holes for the purposes of completion of the BFS currently underway.
The program will shortly mobilise two to three more drilling rigs to site to commence a detailed program of works to expand the current mineralisation.
The company aims to increase the size of the project resource which will feed into a second stage ramping up of the proposed project.
