Global Resources Corporation aims for gold discovery with start of drilling in Turkey

Global Resources Corporation (ASX: GRM) has commenced drilling on an initial program of 10 diamond drill holes for 1,500 metres targeting gold at the Aktarma Project in western Turkey.

The Aktarma project is a low sulphidation hydrothermal system, with a structure identified over 1.5 kilometres, which is open.

During mapping and detailed geochemical sampling programs, floats of quartz bearing gold veins that returned assays of up to 6.13g/t gold were identified. The surrounding hydrothermal altered host rocks are also gold bearing.

Simon Finnis, managing director of GRM, said “it is through the outstanding efforts of our team in Turkey that we have been able to get our permits with minimal delays and this has led to the start of this drilling program.

"We have been greatly encouraged by the results of the work done in Turkey so far, and at Aktarma in particular. The extensive vein system offers good potential for an exciting and significant gold discovery.”

The company is confident that all permits for the remaining holes of the program will be received shortly. First assays are expected mid-January 2012.
