Express Scripts (NASDAQ:ESRX) said on Wednesday it will introduce a programme in 2017 that caps patient spending costs on diabetes drugs.
The timing is convenient in the wake of the Mylan (NASDAQ:MYL) controversy over price hikes on its EpiPen anti-allergic treatment.
The pharmacy benefits manager is trying to limit drug spending increases by participants to about half of the nearly 18% rise forecast overall for 2017.
Express Scripts Holding shares were down 1% at $72.63 on Wednesday.
