Rare Earth associate Macarthur wants more lithium acreage in Australia

The licence it wants, E45/4824, is adjacent to its existing exploration licences E45/4708 and E45/4709.

Rare Earth Minerals’ (LON:REM) Toronto-listed associate Macarthur Minerals Limited (CVE:MMS) has applied for more lithium exploration acreage in Pilbara, Western Australia.

The licence it wants, E45/4824, is adjacent to its existing exploration licences E45/4708 and E45/4709 and would expand the contiguous acreage there by 211sq km to 367sq km.

In total, Macarthur currently holds 21 exploration licence applications and lithium rights covering a total area of 2,029sq km in Western Australia.

David Taplin, Macarthur’s chief executive, said: "The majority of the tenement acreage under application is due to be granted by November or December, which will allow the company to commence initial lithium exploration."

Rare Earth Minerals has a 15.5% stake in Macarthur.
