Radius Health shares rise 10% on continued bid rumours

Radius Health Inc shares were 10% higher on Friday on continued bid rumours

Radius Health Inc (NASDAQ:RDUS) shares were 10% higher on Friday on continued bid rumours.

FT Alphaville reported on Thursday that Shire had "tabled" a bid close to US$80 for the US osteoporosis treatment developer, although Shire has previously refused to comment on the bid rumours, which have been around since last year.

Alphaville furthermore claimed Evercore was advising Shire Plc (LON:SHP, NASDAQ: SHPG), and investment banks RBS and Morgan Stanley were providing financing.

Radius is thought to need a partner or buyer to develop its drugs further and other potential bidders are rumoured to include candidates such as Amgen Inc (NASDAQ:AMGN) and Pfizer Inc (NYSE:PFE, LON:PFZ).

Radius shares were last seen up 10.1% at $56.80. Shire ADRs in New York were down 0.1% to $198.63.
