Risers & Fallers: Aldermore, ASA Resource, Iofona, Petro Matad, Polemos, Vast Resources

Paternoster Resources has taken a big stake in Polemos, which has done wonders for the latter's share price, but not Paternoster's

Below are some of the main news-driven share price changes at 4.00pm.

RISERS

Polemos PLC (LON:PLMO), up 57%. Paternoster Resources PLC (LON:PRS) has taken a 24.6% stake in the natural resources-focused investment company.

Iofina plc (LON:IOF), up 10%. The company assured investors a regulatory snub in the State of Montana will have no impact on the company’s core operations.

Petro Matad Limited (LON:MATD), up 8.7%. Sharply lower earlier on, the market seems to have woken up to the news that the $10mln exit payment stipulated by the farm-out agreement has now been received by the company from Shell.

FALLERS

Vast Resources PLC (LON:VAST), down 9.4%. The company has reported similar grade of copper and zinc from exploration drilling to those recorded from mining at the Manaila polymetallic mine in Romania.

Aldermore Group PLC (LON:ALD), down 6.6%. The challenger bank’s half-year results failed to hit the mark, despite a 50% increase in reported profit before tax.

ASA Resource Group PLC (LON:ASA), down 5.9%. The company formerly known as Mwana Africa found the market hard to please with its second quarter report.

RISERS

China Africa Resources PLC (LON:CAF), up 110%. Shares doubled this morning, and the company has just put out a statement saying it knows of no reason for the movement.

Management Resource Solutions PLC (LON:MRS), up 11%. The company is to pay up to A$6.12mln, mostly in shares, for SubZero Group, a mining services business.

ValiRx Plc (LON:VAL), up 6.5%. While it was expected that the group would get the regulatory go-ahead to start its lung cancer study in Georgia, the share price has reacted well to confirmation of same.

FALLERS

Noricum Gold Limited (LON:NMG), down 8.8%. Talking of the republic of Georgia, Noricum has announced significant new copper and gold intersections from ongoing drilling at the Kvemo Bolnisi Gold & Copper Project in Georgia.

Card Factory PLC (LON:CARD), down 7.3%. Like-for-like sales growth in the first half of this year slowed to 0.2% from 2.8% a year earlier.

Petro Matad Limited (LON:MATD), down 7.1%. The $10mln exit payment stipulated by the farm-out agreement has now been received by the company from Shell.

St Ives PLC (LON:SIV), up 15%. The international marketing services group laid to rest fears of another profit warning as sit said full-year results should be in line with expectations.

DFS Furniture Plc (LON:DFS), up 12%. The upholstered furniture retailer reported continued strong performance in the second half of its financial year.

Coca-Cola HBC AG (LON:CCH), up 5%. The Greek bottler saw profit before tax rise to €191mln in the first half of the year from €165mln the year before.

FALLERS

Bezant Resources plc (LON:BZT), down 25%. The company signalled to shareholders additional equity funding would be “sought in due course” to develop the assets in the Choco region of Colombia over which it holds options.

John Lewis of Hungerford plc (LON:JLH), down 16%. DFS may be trading well but the Hungerford-based kitchens, bedrooms and furniture specialist announced it is closing its show rooms in Tunbridge and Harrogate.

Stratex International plc (LON:STI), down 13%. The company said output at its Altintepe gold mine in Turkey was on track to meet the annual minimum production target of 30,000 ounces, while the high gold price is also auguring well for future mine planning.
