Plunging pound boosts YouGov

YouGov predicted trading for the year would be slightly above its expectations

The pound's plunge against the dollar in the wake of the EU referendum has paid off for polling and market research group YouGov Plc (LON:YOU).

YouGov said the rise in the greenback and Middle East currencies against sterling had helped to boost revenue from those markets in the past year.

The group said it was expecting trading for the year to be slightly above its expectations following double-digit revenue growth "well ahead" of the global market research sector.

It said the proportion of revenue derived from data products and data services had continued to increase in line with the company's stated strategy.

YouGov added in a statement: "The company's balance sheet remains strong, with net cash balances at July 31, 2016 of £15mln."
