Now the project now has all major approvals, the company said.
“We are closer than ever to delivering this world-class project," said managing director Chris Fraser.
He added: "Our team is currently actively engaged in the financing phase of the Project and I look forward to providing further updates in due course.”
Today’s approval is from the Department for Transport, and it confirms that the Secretary of State has approved its Development Consent Order (DCO).
The harbour facility, on Teesside, will include a new berth as well as ship loading facilities and conveyor linkage to a separate materials handling facility. The company noted that the DCO includes all compulsory purchase powers required for the harbour development.
"We're delighted to have secured this final approval for the Project and would like to thank everyone who has contributed towards the positive determinations of all of the planning applications and the DCO application,” Fraser added.
