ValiRx receives important sign-off for cancer trial

The AIM-listed company, which is working with Tangent Reprofiling, said it had received a positive opinion recommending the trial protocol.

ValiRx (LON:VAL) said it has passed a significant milestone in its bid to take its flagship cancer drug into a phase II clinical study.

The green light from the ethics committee covering the hospital in Tbilisi, Georgia, where the testing of VAL401 will be carried out.

Receiving the treatment will be patients with non-small cell lung cancer where chemotherapy has failed.

“Approval from the ethics committee is a precondition and integral element in the Georgian regulatory approval process,” ValiRx told investors.

In the same announcement the company said the first batch of VAL401 capsules to be used in the trial have been completed and are going through the quality control process before being shipped.
