Lo-Q sign first US contract for Q-Text at Lake Compounce, Connecticut

Lo-Q sign first US contract for Q-Text at Lake Compounce, Connecticut

Lo-Q (AIM: LOQ) has sealed its first Q-txt installation for a US theme park. The company signed an agreement to install its Q-txt queue management system at the Lake Compounce Family Theme Park in Connecticut, USA.  Lake Compounce is operated by Palace Entertainment, part of the Parques Reunidos family of parks.

"We hope that through the successful deployment of our system in the US, we will be able to demonstrate that it has the potential to enhance a visitor's enjoyment of the Lake Compounce Family Theme Park and so can be used to good effect at other Palace Entertainment and Parques Reunidos sites," Lo-Q chairman Jeff McManus commented.

The Q-Txt system enables a park visitor to reserve a place in the queue for a ride/attraction by sending a text message (SMS). The Q-txt system allocates a place in the virtual queue, and will then send the visitor a booking message with details of the reservation time.

The deal has an initial term of one year which is extendable to a four year contract. Lo-Q will also provide technical assistance and support as well as software updates and maintenance. The installation will be completed in time for the start of the 2010 opening in mid-May. Lo-Q plc will install the system and train employees at Lake Compounce in its use.

“This now brings the total number of parks using the Q-txt system to three and furthers our relationship with Parque Reunidos into the USA following the signing of Mirabilandia, Ravenna, Italy”, McManus added.

Lake Compounce has over 700,000 visitors annually and attendances continues to grow. The theme park offers both ‘waterpark’ attractions, and ‘dry’ attractions including the ‘Boulder-Dash’ roller-coaster which, according to Palace Entertainment, was voted the world’s ‘Number-1’ wooden coaster.

"We are very proud to be the first park in the USA to offer our visitors the Q-txt electronic reservation service to have access to rides without having to wait in the line ... I'm sure that thanks to their technology we will give new opportunities to our visitors and it will make their visit to our park more enjoyable", Lake Compounce General Manager Jerry Brick stated.

Lo-Q noted that Palace Entertainment is the largest operator of waterparks and family entertainment centres in the USA, with over 14 million visitors annually at 38 locations with seven theme parks, 10 waterparks and 21 family entertainment centres.

This latest contract adds to Lo-Q’s reach following several major renewals last months. Through these renewals, Lo-Q continues to supply its queue management systems to LEGOLAND Windsor in the UK for a further three years; Dreamworld in Australia for a further three years; Mirabilandia in Italy for a further four years; Dollywood of Tennessee, US, for a further year; and Parque Isla Mágica in Spain has extended its one year rolling contract.
