Greatland Gold PLC (LON:GGP) says its field operations team is now on site at its Bromus nickel project, ready to prepare four locations for drilling.
The drill tests will help Greatland determine how much nickel is present at the project, as well as the nature of the bedrock conductors (an area of highly conductive material in the bedrock).
Last year, a ground electromagnetic survey indicated “one very substantial nickel sulphide bedrock conductor” as well as three other conductors.
Such large bodies of conductive material are typically signs of sulphide deposits.
“The nickel sulphide targets identified by last year's geophysical work will be tested by diamond drilling,” said executive director Callum Baxter.
“Provision has [also] been for downhole EM (electromagnetic) surveys to determine size and orientation of the buried targets.”
The initial plan is to drill one hole at each of the four conductors.
Greatland owns 100% of the Bromus project which is located in southern Western Australia.
