Active Energy chief on “transformational period”; Aureus Mining is sold to a Turkish conglomerate; and Highlands Natural Resources announces sale of its helium assets.

Active Energy Plc (LON:AEG) chief executive Richard Spinks says 2015 was a “transformational period” as the group released financial results for the twelve months to December 31.

The company reports a US$1.98mln gross profit, versus US$2.73mln in the prior year. It had a US$3.4mln operating loss and a US$5.7mln net loss.

Elsewhere, Liberia-based gold miner Aureus Mining Inc (LON:AUE, TSX:AUE) is to hand majority control to Turkish conglomerate MNG through a US$30mln share subscription.

Current chief executive David Reading will stand down, with a new management team from MNG appointed comprising Serhan Umurhan as chief executive and Geoff Eyre as chief financial officer.

Highlands Natural Resources Plc (LON:HNR) has agreed to sell its helium assets to Opera Investments Plc (LON:OPRA) for £4mln.

The deal will be structured as a reverse takeover, the consideration for the transaction will be paid in shares and Highlands will become a major shareholder in the enlarged group.

Opera intends to raise £750,000 of new funding through a share placing.

Scotgold Resources Ltd (LON:SGZ) chief executive Richard Gray declared himself “extremely pleased” with trial production at its Cononish mine, to the north of Loch Lomond, Scotland.

The feed grade for bulk processing was 7.9 grams per tonne of gold and 39 grams of silver with a relatively coarse material fed into the plant.

In other news, Metal Tiger PLC (LON:MTR) has confirmed a new anomaly at its project in the Kalahari Copper Belt in Botswana.

Partner MOD Resources identified 3km of potential copper/zinc mineralisation through soil samples 3.5km north of current drilling and will now follow up with a shallow exploration programme.

Buoyed by strong shareholder support DekelOil Public Limited (LON:DKL) is boosting its stake in the Ayenouan palm oil project in Côte d'Ivoire by a further 5% to 86%.

The additional cost will be £1.6mln that will be funded by a further share sale.

Company co-founder Dan Wagner is to step down from the board of e-commerce firm ATTRAQT Group plc (LON:ATQT) at today’s annual general meeting.

He will be replaced as non-executive chairman on an interim basis by Nick Habgood, who is currently a non-executive director of ATTRAQT. Habgood will lead the search for a new independent chairman.

And finally, back office optimisation software company eg solutions PLC (LON:EGS) confirmed that Nigel Payne has been formally appointed as non-executive chairman of the company.

The appointment was announced earlier this week and has now been formally ratified.
