Metminco Ltd (LON:MNC, ASX: MNC) shares soared in London as a trading halt was requested in Australia as it emerged there were negotiations concerning its Los Calatos copper project in Peru.
The firm has become aware "that price sensitive information concerning advanced, but incomplete, negotiations regarding the Los Calatos Partnership Process (announced 21 October 2015) may be in the public domain," it said in a brief statement.
Mark Bolton becomes the new chief financial officer and company secretary at Oilex Ltd (LON:OEX, ASX:OEX) with effect from today (June 10). Since 2003, he has worked as a finance chief and secretary at a number of resource companies, and before that, with Ernst & Young.
Shares in Anglo Pacific Group plc (LON:APF, TSX:APY), which specialises in royalties from mining assets, lost ground as it updated on its Kestrel coal mine deal in Australia. Kestrel is operated by mining giant Rio Tinto PLC (LON:RIO) and lies in the Bowen Basin, Queensland, Australia. Anglo owns 50% of certain sub-stratum lands which entitle it to coal royalty receipts.
Rio Tinto's forward guidance indicates mining within Anglo's lands for the first half of 2016 will be around 20-25%, rather than the 30-35% previously guided.
