ValiRx Plc (LON:VAL) is to broaden the phase I/II clinical trial of its lead cancer drug VAL 201 to speed up the dose expansion stage.
The enlargement will allow it to complete the prostate cancer trial within the projected and regulatory-agreed time frame.
ValiRx added it has also started preparatory work on a full efficacy study (phase III) of the drug in prostate cancer treatment.
"This process and the development of the actual protocol, with costings and partnerships in place, is expected to be completed by the time that the current Phase I/II trial reports," it said.
ValiRx added it is also working towards a trial to test VAL201’s effectiveness as a treatment for endometriosis and has started talks with potential collaborators and partners.
Elsewhere, ValiSeek, a joint venture between ValiRx and Tangent Reprofiling, has prepared the regulatory documentation for a clinical Phase II efficacy study for lung cancer drug VAL401.
The trial will take place in Georgia, where receipt of local ethics committee approval will be the next step ahead of a final regulatory go-ahead to recruit patients.
