Karelian bolsters Finnish aspirations with Lahtojoki permit

It follows the acquisition of the project from A&G Mining Oy last month, which has now transferred the permit.

Shares in Karelian Diamond Resources (LON:KDR) went higher as its Finnish exploration programme was boosted - with the receipt of a mining permit for its Lahtojoki diamond project.

It follows the acquisition of the project from A&G Mining Oy last month, which has now transferred the permit, and also come with claim reports and additional technical material.

Chairman Professor Richard Conroy told investors: "I am delighted that the formalities regarding the acquisition have been completed.

"We look forward to immediately reviewing the technical data which has been received.

"The acquisition of the Lahtojoki diamond pipe mining permit complements our existing licences and is a major step forward for our diamond programme in Finland".

The Lahtojoki pipe lies in a 55 hectare claim area in the Kuopio-Kaavi area of Finland, where there is excellent infrastructure including good road access and power availability.

Karelian believes that the Lahtojoki kimberlite pipe has the potential to become a profitable low strip open pit diamond mine.

Shares rose 2.5% to stand at 1.025p a pop.
