On Wall Street the Dow closed lower while the S&P500 was little changed as the oil price drop took its toll on commodity stocks.
The Dow Jones Industrial Index closed almost 35 down at 17,705, while the S&P500 gained just 0.08% on the day to finish at 2,058.
The Nasdaq index closed around 14 points down at 4,750, while US crude is 2.87% lower but still above US$43 a barrel.
The S&P midcap 400 gained just 0.03% to 1,453.12 and the S&P600 small cap index closed just 0.01% higher at 687.87.
A notable gainer was mining giant Freeport-McMoRan Inc (NYSE:FCX), dropped almost 11% to US$10.51 as the copper price plunged and it agreed to sell one of its mines.
The group said Monday it would sell interests in an African copper/cobalt mining business to China Molybdenum for $2.65bn in cash.
Health-care stocks were up, while energy shares slid for a second day amid lower crude prices.
Chevron Corporation (NYSE: CVX) lost 1.48% to US$100.35.
Wall Street shares were mixed at mid-session as traders mulled an uncertain oil market, which weighed on stocks.
The Dow Jones is down around 25 at the time of writing at 17,715, while the broader based S&P500 is at 2,061, up around four.
The tech heavy Nasdaq index was up around 26 at 4,762. The price of US crude- West Texas Intermediate - was down 2.31% to stand at US$43.64.
The S&P400 Mid-cap index was up 3.70, or 0.25% at around 1,456, while the S&P600 small cap index added 2.74, or 0.4% at 690.67.

A notable riser in New York was Krispy Kreme Doughnuts (NYSE:KKD), which gained over 24% to US$20.92 as it is set to be bought by JAB Holdings, which owns the Douwe Egbert coffee brand.
The Luxembourg-based investment firm, which owns Peet's Coffee & Tea and Caribou Coffee, said it is taking the doughnut company private in a deal worth about $1.35 billion.
Drugs firm Horizon Pharma (NYSE: HZNP) added 13.65% despite reporting a loss of US$45.4 million in its first quarter, whicb did not meet Wall Street expectations.
Troubled Valeant Pharmaceuticals International Inc (NYSE: VRX) shed 3.71% to US$28.77 as it said it expected to file its first-quarter report with US and Canadian regulators on or before June 10, ahead of a July 31 deadline, and repeated its first-quarter forecasts.
Caterpillar Inc (NYSE:CAT) was the worst performer on the Dow, falling more than 3%, while Chevron Corp (NYSE:CVX) and General Electric Co (NYSE:GE.) were following close behind.
