Experienced biotech and pharma executive David Lawrence has been appointed to the board of Redx Pharma Plc (LON:REDX) as a non-exec director, the drug discovery firm said.
He succeeds Derek Lindsay, who stepped down from the board to become chief operating officer.
Lawrence has more than 25 years' of experience in the industry and has worked for a number of major pharmas, including Chiron Vaccines, now part of Novartis; Acambis plc, now part of Sanofi, where he was finance chief.
He spent the first 13 years of his career at GlaxoSmithKline (LON:GSK), latterly as vice president of R&D financial management.
David is currently a non-exec director at Synpromics Ltd, a synthetic biology company that he co-founded.
Thanking Lindsay, Redx chief Neil Murray added on the new appointment of Lawrence: "We are confident that his extensive commercial and financial experience in the biotech and pharmaceutical industries will benefit Redx.
"The board would also like to place on record its thanks to Derek Lindsay, who as co-founder has made an enormous contribution to the company and to the board. We look forward to continuing to work with Derek in his role as COO."
Among the group's pipeline is the Porcupine programme, where Redx is working on an enzyme that is liked with pancreatic and triple negative breast cancer, towards the first in-human clinical trials, expected in the first quarter of next year.
Redx also has a number of other early-stage assets under development in immuno-oncology, infection and immunology.
