Keywords Studios gets €15mln financing for acquisitions

Keywords said the money would support working capital as well as new acquisitions.

Acquisitive Keywords Studios PLC (LON:KWS) has secured a new €15mln credit facility from Barclays Bank.

The computer games support services group told investors that the new credit facility has a five year term - with a €10mln initially committed, extendable at any time during the period with Barclay’s approval.

Keywords said the money would support working capital and would be earmarked for further acquisition financing.

"We are pleased to have further strengthened our relationship with Barclays and the introduction of this long term credit facility provides the group with additional flexibility in the financing of acquisitions and the Group as a whole," said Andrew Day, Keywords Studios chief executive.

Keywords continues to consolidate video game services sector

Financial results for the twelve months to December 31 2015, released April 5, showed a 55% increase in group revenue to €58mln as the group’s acquisitive strategy continued to pay-off.

Meanwhile, the group continues to add scale through new deals.

In April, Keywords unveiled its largest acquisition to date, with a deal to buy games localisation rival Synthesis Group in a €18mln deal.

In the same month it also announced it would take full control of previously part-owned Kite Team early, and acquired Beijing based game art firm Mindwalk.

Before that, in March, it acquired Manila based live services group Ankama Asia – which now provides outsourced operations for French games publisher Ankama Games, as well as Keywords other clients.
