Major share price movers in London at 4.00pm

RISERS

Petro Matad Ltd (LON:MATD) up 220% to 6.8p. Shares fly even higher as Shell pulls out of farm-out agreement in Mongolia but will pay a “highly material” sum in compensation to the oil explorer. Matad’s interest in Blocks IV and V will revert to 100%.

Avocet Mining PLC (LON:AVM) up 39%. Still rising after yesterday’s improved production from its Inata gold mine in Burkina Faso.

Randgold Resources PLC (LON:RRS) up 3% to 6,710p. Gold price surges to new high for the year as dollar comes under pressure.

FALLERS

Agriterra PLC (LON:AGTA) down 23% to 0.25p. Phil Edmonds departed as chairman earlier in the week to be replaced by Caroline Havers a lawyer and not-for–profit organisation specialist.

Flowgroup PLC (LON:FLOW) down 19% to 20.6p. High tech boiler maker reported operating losses rose to £17.1mln in the year to December 31 from £10mln a year ago as staff numbers rose and investment increased.

ASA Resources (LON:ASA) down 17% to 0.66p. Zimbabwe-based gold miner reports a 24% decrease in gold sales compared to previous quarter and an operating loss of £17.1mln.

RISERS

Petro Matad Ltd (LON:MATD) up 62% to 3.45p. Shares rocket as Shell pulls out of farm-out agreement in Mongolia but will pay a “highly material” sum in compensation to the oil explorer. Matad’s interest in Blocks 1V and V will revert to 100%.

Rotork PLC (LON:ROR) up 8% to 194.3p. FTSE 250 engineer says trading expectations are unchanged despite weakness in oil and gas sectors and lower volumes in first half, which will affect margins.

British Telecom PLC (LON:BT.A) up 2% to 444p. Telecoms giant pushes up prices across its broadband, phone and TV packages from the summer. Landline charges will rise by 5.5% to £19 and broadband by £2 per month.

FALLERS

Ophir Energy PLC (LON:OPHR) down 16% to 77p. Schlumberger pulls put as a potential partner in the Fortuna scheme off the coast of Equatorial Guinea. Ophir said the scheme remained attractive and the partnership with the US oilfield services giant was only one of several development options being considered.

Nighthawk Energy PLC (LON:HWK) down 10% to 0.92p. Commonwealth Bank of Australia has agreed an extension of the loan covenants waiver under the company's Reserves Based Loan until 16 May.

Royal Bank of Scotland PLC (LON:RBS) down 4% to 234.4p. Net loss of almost £1bn plus an investigation underway by Swiss authorities into Coutts were revealed in latest quarterly results.

RISERS

Herencia Resources PLC (LON:HER) up 40% to 0.03p. Rally after shares tanked yesterday as buyer of its Picachos copper project in Chile pulled out. Some hope Herencia can now make a go of it on its own.

Proton Power PLC (LON:PPS) up 24% to 4.2p. Comanyy announces £1.4mln order for its fuel cell-powered units from a ‘blue chip’ but unnamed German customer.

ValiRx Plc (LON:VAL) up 5% to 10.2p. Awarded a second US patent for lung cancer treatment VAL 401 being developed by joint venture ValiSeek.

FALLERS

Circle Oil PLC (LON:COP) down 22% to 1.95p. A reduction in 2P reserves in both Egypt and Morocco plus a warning of an impairment charge in the 2015 year-end results.

Restaurant Group PLC (LON:RTN) down 21% to 295p. Shares plunged after the Frankie & Benny's and Garfunkel's owner warned on profits and said its finance chief had quit.

Octagonal Plc (LON:OCT) down 19% to 1.25p. Second half of year was difficult in corporate broking market and staff levels have been reduced. GIS's results for the year are expected to be in-line with expectations, nonetheless, with revenues exceeding £4.2mln and net profits (EBITDA) of approximately £1.1mln.
