Challenger Acquisitions extends maturity date of convertible notes, Metal Tiger raises £1mln and Summit Therapeutics receives FDA approval.

Challenger Acquisitions Ltd (LON:CHAL), the backer of giant observation wheel projects, extended the maturity date of its convertible notes due to mature this month.

With the agreement of the note holders, £2.81mln of outstanding loan notes will now mature on 6 May, 2017; all other terms of the notes remain unchanged.

In other news, Metal Tiger PLC (LON:MTR) raised £1mln at 4.5p a share via a placing and subscription of shares to advance the resource investor.

Paul Johnson, chief executive, said: "Metal Tiger goes from strength to strength as it focuses on its key assets in Botswana and Thailand.”

Elsewhere, Ariana Resources plc (LON:AAU) noted some more ‘exceptional’ drill results from its Australian lithium investee company Dakota Minerals.

The results from Dakota's Lynas Find lithium project in Western Australia included 35m at 2.1% lithium oxide, 35m at 1.75% and 40m at 1.52% Li2O, with an overall weighted average grade of 1.75% Li2O.

Over at Eurasia Mining plc (LON:EUA) it had the Russian equivalent of a pre-feasibility study for its Semenovsky gold tailings project (STP) in Bashkiria, Russia approved by the local mines department.

Eurasia, which is partnered on the project by resources investor Metal Tiger (LON:MTR), has started metallurgical work with five holes drilled in to the tailings dam and samples being prepared for analysis.

Meanwhile, Mariana Resources Ltd (LON:MARL) told investors it has so far received backing for £4mln of a possible £6mln funding.

The AIM quoted mining and exploration junior revealed plans to issue up to 330mln new shares in the company through a private placing, which will include a cornerstone subscription from a new strategic investor.

Over at Sierra Rutile Ltd (LON:SRX) it completed construction of its new dry mine at Gangama and expects to start commercial production this quarter.

The Sierra Leone based-miner added it had also re-started sales of rutile into the titanium market after a period when users of the metal were running down stocks.

And finally, shares in Summit Therapeutics PLC (LON:SUMM, NASDAQ:SMMT) perked up after the drug developer revealed it had received some good news from US regulators.

The US Food and Drugs Administration cleared the company's investigational new drug application to expand the Phase II proof-of-concept clinical trial for its Duchenne's muscular dystrophy treatment.
