Afren , the west Africa focused oil and gas exploration and production Company announced that it had entered into a co-operation agreement with E.ON Ruhrgas AG and African LNG. The agreement will see the three companies investigate and “availability and accessibility” of gas in Nigeria, with a particular focus on the Anambra Basin and south-eastern regions of the country. The agreement will also see the companies work towards jointly developing and monetizing gas for local and export markets.

The cooperation agreement with E.ON Ruhrgas and African LNG to develop upstream gas allows Afren to capitalise on the anticipated growth in global LNG demand, without diluting our upstream focused strategy.'
