Kromek Group PLC (LON:KMK) was named as the most innovative in country after it topped intellectual property rankings.
It topped the 2016 Intellectual Property League Table, which lists the top 100 UK firms according to the number of patents they possess.
Meanwhile, Acal Plc (LON:ACL), the specialist electronics group, said its earnings for the year will be “slightly” ahead of expectations.
Trading since it last updated the market in February has been better than forecast.
As a result group sales are set to have increased by 6%, or 14% at constant exchange rates.
In other news, AIM-listed currency firm FairFX (LON:FFX) gave an upbeat assessment of prospects alongside annual results that were largely in line with forecasts.
Its net revenues grew by 36% to £7.4mln for the year ended December 31, but as is common with firms in a rapid growth phase it was loss-making.
The shortfall was £3.4mln after spending £3.2mln on marketing and an options charge of £400,000.
Over at Patagonia Gold (LON:PGD) says the performance of its Lomada mine in Argentina has improved significantly after a challenging twelve months in 2015.
In what the Argentina- based miner says was a year of transition for the company, turnover was US$26.1mln (US$35.9mln) as production from the Lomada operation fell to 21,521 ounces (29,347).
Net losses for the year were US$14.4mln (US$6.8mln).
Elsewhere, Worldview Capital’s offer to acquire Petroceltic International Plc (LON:PCI) has lapsed because the level of acceptances fell short of the required threshold.
To have succeeded the takeover proposal required acceptance from 90% of the shares not already owned by Worldview, and by April 14 (the closing date for the offer) it had acceptances representing 54.6% of the remaining shares.
And finally, Sierra Leone focused Sula Iron & Gold PLC (LON:SULA) announced the results of a recent sampling campaign in which goldstone and sulphide stone samples were collected from across its 100% owned, flagship, Ferensola Gold Project.
New oxide zone drill sample results indicate that the drilling completed in November 2015 intersected mineralisation in 80% of the drillholes completed, compared to 70% as previously reported.
