Proactive news highlights: Dekel Oil PLC, Fastjet PLC, Hummingbird Resources and more...

Connemara Mining Company had more good news, Eland Oil & Gas Plc expects to complete flow testing and Fastjet halted its application for an air operator’s licence.

Having previously released the results of gold assays from its Inishowen drilling campaign, Connemara Mining Company PLC (LON:CON) had more good news on Thursday.

The shares rose 14% to 2.39p, bringing the gain year-to-date up to 66%, as it published the silver, lead, zinc assay results from the short hole drilling programme conducted earlier this year.

Polo Resources Ltd (LON:POL) said an arbitrator has been appointed by the International Chamber of Commerce to determine a dispute between Celamin Ltd - in which it holds a 33% stake - and its joint venture partner Tunisian Mining Services and Chaketma Phosphates SA in relation to the fraudulent transfer of Celamin's 51% shareholding in CPSA.

In other news, Eland Oil & Gas PLC (LON:ELA) expects to complete flow testing of the Opuama-3 well in Nigeria over the coming weeks, following a work-over.

It was envisaged that the well’s output would rise by 50-100% as a result of this new work over to the producing well.

Over at Sierra Rutile Limited (LON:SRX), it raised £14mln through an oversubscribed placing to fund expansion of its dry mine operations.

The Sierra Leone-focused minerals sands group is switching emphasis from a dredging operation to land-based mining with a second dry mine (at Gangama) set to be commissioned in June.

Meanwhile, annual results from OptiBiotix Health PLC (LON:OPTI) chart a period of significant progress – with the momentum carrying on into the current financial year.

It now boasts 11 patents protecting its technology (up from five), it has eight strain registrations and seven trademarks.

Sector peer and next generation antibiotics developer, Motif Bio PLC (LON:MTFB), has made two senior appointments.

They are Pete Meyers, who comes on board as chief financial officer, and Rajesh Shukla, who has been appointed to the role of vice president, clinical operations.

Elsewhere, Fastjet PLC (LON:FJET) halted its application for an air operator’s licence in Zambia as part of a review of its network of routes in Africa.

In March, the airline warned that trading was difficult and it was rationalising its route network and capacity to match the reduced demand.

Hummingbird Resources (LON:HUM) is well placed to come out of the downturn in the gold sector in much better health than it went into it, believes chairman Russell King.

The gold group is in talks over a financing package for its flagship 2.2mln oz Yanfolila project in Mali, with first pour targeted for 2017.

Finally, Côte d'Ivoire based palm oil firm DekelOil Public Ltd (LON:DKL) revealed a 134% rise in revenues thanks to record production volumes in 2015.
