Nutritional products giant Royal DSM has signed up to develop new products using the OptiBiotic technology platform developed by AIM-listed OptiBiotix Health PLC (LON:OPTI).
The collaboration agreement is another endorsement of the technology developed by OptiBiotix, which specialises in developing products to combat obesity, high cholesterol and diabetes.
Royal DSM has annual sales of around €10bn and its nutritional products business is one of the world's leading providers of vitamins, plant pigments, nutritional fats, oils and waxes plus other ingredients in the food, pharmaceutical and personal care industries.
If successful, the agreement allows both parties to agree commercial terms whereby OptiBiotix would grant an exclusive licence to DSM in the DSM field, and an option to license in other fields, in return for royalty payments on sales of future products.
"We believe that OptiBiotix's strong science base together with DSM's innovation focus and global reach will help both companies bring better science and better health to people around the world,” said Stephen O'Hara, chief executive officer of OptiBiotix.
