Tasty PLC serves up juicy 20% pre-tax profit hike

Pre-tax profit was a healthy 20% higher to £3mln from £2.5mln the year before.

Restaurant chain owner Tasty Plc (LON:TAST) served up a set of figures worthy of its name for the year to December 2015 on Wednesday.

The firm, which owns the Asian cuisine chain Dim t and Italian and grill chain Wildwood, saw revenue for the year rise 20% to £35.7mln from £29.7mln the year before.

Pre-tax profit was also a healthy 20% higher to £3mln from £2.5mln the year before.

Jonny Plant, chief executive, said it was a “good performance” from the company, and added that “the business is at an exciting stage and is well positioned to expand.”

Last year the firm opened 12 new Wildwood and Wildwood Kitchen restaurants and one new Dim t restaurant taking its total to above 50 stores for the first time.

But more is expected, and Plant noted that “significant investment” will be made, particularly in its marketing strategy.

“2016 will be a year of growth and investment as we lay the foundations for the future,” he added.

Current trading for the year so far has been in line with expectations, the company said, with two new restaurants opened since the year end and another two under construction.

Tasty also announced the appointment of Timothy Cundy, who has been the head of finance since 2013, as its new finance director.

Shares, which have lost 15% since the start of the year, lifted 3.5p, or 2.2%, to 165p on Wednesday.
