Proactive news summary: GW Pharmaceuticals, Kibo Mining PLC, Landore Resources PLC and more...

Big market movers, a broker update and news from the world of wind power.

Today we saw two big market movers: GW Pharmaceuticals PLC and Metal Tiger plc.

Shares in GW Pharmaceuticals (LON:GWp) shot up nearly 120% after promising results from phase three trials of it cannabis-based epilepsy drug. It now awaits Food and Drug Administration approval, which would be the first of its kind in the US.

Meanwhile, Metal Tiger plc was up 46% after it announced the first stage of its new investing strategy, the partial acquisition of ZimNRG.

Elsewhere, broker Liberum Capital, indicated a potential 57% increase in shares of natural sweetener group PureCircle (LON:PURE) with a 600p target price, up from the current price of 382p, reiterating a Buy rating.

In other news, intellectual property portfolio builder, Tekcapital PLC (LON:TEK), has acquired the exclusive licence to a patent application for the measurement of glucose in saliva.

The licence, which has been acquired from Arizona State University, adds to the company's portfolio of patents for the non-invasive measurement of glucose.

Mining group Landore Resources Ltd (LON:LND) said further trenching and sampling will be carried out on a new gold zone identified at its flagship Junior Lake property in Ontario.

The new zone at the site, which is also prospective for nickel, copper and platinum group metals, was discovered as a result of drilling works in December last year and reaffirmed by a follow-up diamond drill programme last month.

Fellow miner Kibo Mining PLC (LON:KIBO) said that the due date for the Mbeya coal-to-power project to be “financial close ready” has been adjusted.

It is now expected that the MCPP, in Tanzania, will be ready to commence with the process of financial close by the end of the second quarter of 2016. This is slightly later than previously announced but the delay has no impact on the overall timeline.

Over at energy firm Tethys Petroleum Limited (LON:TPL, TSE:TPL), investors were reminded that executive chairman John Bell is set to become joint non-executive chairman from today.

As previously announced, he will share the role with Alexander Abramov following the cash injection into Tethys by Olisol.

The oil price and a decrease in production caused India focused Oilex Ltd (LON:OEX) to report lower revenues in the latest half year, though the period saw a number of well work-overs at the Cambay field completed. Revenue for the six months came in at $166,459 compared to $232,992 in the same period of 2014.

To something more sustainable, wind power specialist Rame Energy (LON:RAME); it sold two more development projects in Chile to Cayman Islands–based utility group InterEnergy.

A contract for the sales of the 9Mw Punta Chome and 6Mw Raki Sur has already been signed with milestone payments up to at least £2.03mln.

And finally, Windar Photonics PLC (LON:WPO) has received orders for 11 of its WindEYE sensors from two large North American wind farm owners and operators.

The firm's laser guided LIDAR units sit on the top of wind turbines and lines them up properly. The technology also analyses the wind ahead of a turbine so it can be optimised to conditions.
