Small caps didn't move that much, although did go lower, on a day which saw explosive action from the ECB and some fiery responses in the global market.
Mario Draghi, president of the European Central Bank, let rip this afternoon as he unleashed a raft of stimulus measures aimed at kickstarting the eurozone economy.
Among other measures, the European Central bank has decided to cut its bank deposit rate to -0.4% and add €20bn to its monthly quantitative easing programme from April.
Joshua Mahony, at IG, said: "The hesitancy and indecision that has pervaded financial markets this week was a reflection of the mistrust that has grown of whether the European Central Bank (ECB) will ever truly deliver upon the expectations Draghi creates.
"However, today we have seen the ECB truly out-deliver expectations with a package of monetary easing measures that span across the whole range of tools at the committee’s disposal."
FTSE AIM 100 finished down 0.44% at 3,254, while FTSE AIM All share closed down 0.11% to 698.5.
