Mobile marketing firm Proxama PLC (LON:PROX) was among the top share gainers in London, adding over 28% as it is set to see its technology further rolled out in the UK capital.
It has joined forces with the search engine giant and all round big cheese Google (NASDAQ:GOOG) to provide live travel updates and advertising on London buses, direct to passengers's devices.
The news sent shares surging and also good volumes with over 20mln shares in the company changing hands.
The service will be available to passengers with Chrome on both iPhone and Android, initially across London buses.
Another big mover for share volumes was Premaitha Health (LON:NIPT), which saw over 50 mln of its shares traded. However, the price eased a tad despite the diagnostics and screening specialist for pregnant women said it had inked an exclusive distribution agreement with GeNext LLC to market Premaitha's flagship IONA test in Russia.
Volumes were also high for UK Oil & Gas Inv PLC (LON: UKOG) - one of the Horse Hill consortium of companies - which today posted another good flow test result from the shallowest part of the well.
Over a continuous nine hour period, oil from the Portland section of the well flowed at 168 barrels per day from approximately 615 metres below ground level.
Operator UK Oil & Gas said Horse Hill-1 has now produced at a combined average stable rate of over 1,528 bopd from the two Kimmeridge and Upper Portland zones.
Regency Mines (LON:RGM), another stakeholder, added 6.45% and Solo Oil (LON:SOLO) was up 1.23% to 0.41p.
Other stories gaining traction on the day were from under the cosh German car maker VW, which now potentially faces a legal action from insurer Allianz after the sharp drop in the auro specialists' shares following the diesel emmissions scandal.
Allianz Global Investors holds 0.06% of the group's preference shares and just 10,000 ordinary shares, according to reports and will have lost around €8.6 million on its stake.
It comes after news that the group was still set to pay staff bonuses for 2015 despite the scandal.
In other news, which may appeal to those with a sweet tooth, Hotel Chocolat plans to raise £50mln by listing on AIM, expected in the second quarter of 2016.
The firm, run by Angus Thirlwell and Peter Harris, makes and sells premium products via 84 stores in the UK and abroad, said the funds raised would be used to further grow the business.
