Frontier Developments releases new game Elite Dangerous: Arena

Elite Dangerous: Arena is a standalone ‘close quarter combat’ game, and it is being sold to players for £4.99.

Frontier Developments (LON:FDEV) has announced the release of its new title under the Elite Dangerous video game franchise.

The self-publishing developer told investors that the Elite Dangerous: Arena game is now available for Windows PC, via FrontierStore.net and the Steam distribution channel for £4.99 ($7.49, €6.75).

It highlighted that Arena is a standalone version of a close quarter combat game mode which was part of the Elite Dangerous game, and it allows instant multiplayer competition. The gameplay is cross-compatible with the Elite Dangerous player community, Frontier added.

"Elite Dangerous: Arena allows a new audience the chance to experience multi-player space combat at an accessible price-point,” said David Walsh, Frontier Developments chief operating officer.

“We are looking forward to welcoming even more new players to the community through this competitive experience, which is upgradable to the full galactic-scale Elite: Dangerous game."
