Seeing Machines adds fleet logistics veteran to board

Terry Winters, chairman of Seeing Machines, said the board is delighted to welcome Les Carmichael as a director

Les Carmichael, a veteran of the North American transportation and logistics sectors, is to join the board of Seeing Machines (LON:SEE) as a non-executive director.

The 62-year-old Carmichael, who is based in Dallas, has held a succession of senior management and operational positions in the transportation and logistics sectors, and has experience in all aspects of fleet logistics, including sales, marketing, operations, business development, and turnaround management.

He serves on the board of directors of GlobalTranz, a venture capital funded, technology focused, freight forwarding company operating in the US, the AIM-listed operator monitoring technology specialist revealed.

The appointment follows the creation last year of Seeing Machines Fleet, an incident avoidance solution that helps drivers and fleet operators better manage fatigue and distraction events in real time.

Terry Winters, chairman of Seeing Machines, commented: “His deep experience of the US fleet market, his contacts in the industry and with regulators and his commitment to improving road and driver safety, will be invaluable as we grow our business in this very large and exciting global Fleet market. We look forward to Les' contribution to the board and the value he can bring as a mentor to our sales team, especially in the very important US market."

The shares were off 1.4%, in line with the market, in lunchtime trading.
