Risers & Fallers: Centrica, Tesco and Arian Silver

Equipment hire firm Ashtead was dented as investors reacted to the warning signals coming via a rivals weak earnings report.

Below are some of the main share movements at 4pm,,,

Risers

Cranswick (LON:CWK), the pork and poultry product specialist, added 4.23% to 2,069p as broker Investec reiterated a ‘buy’ rating and raised its target price to 2,086p from 2,065p

Tesco (LON:TSCO) added 3.73% to 167p as it bounced back from recent share losses over a difficult week.

Condor Gold (LON:CNR) surged over 46% to 57.8p on no new news. On Tuesday, the group revealed that director Jim Mellon had bought 160,000 shares and was now interested in 10.26% of the share capital.

Losers

Centrica (LON:CNA) dropped over 5% to 199.5p after SocGen downgraded the shares.

Computer chip designer ARM Holdings (LON:ARM) shed 4.22% to 953.5p after Liberum repeated a 'sell' stance.

Arian Silver (LON:AGQ), down 40% as it revealed it had raised £750,000.

Risers

Anglo American (LON:AAL), up 10% at 280p. The beleaguered mining share continued its recent rebound and was the FTSE 100’s top riser.

Blur Group (LON:BLUR), up 19% at 16.75p. Shares in the firm, which operates an online exchange for professional services, continued to strengthen following yesterday’s positive trading update.

Independent Oil & Gas (LON:IOG), up 15.4% at 5.62p. The North Sea junior confirmed this morning that it has been given permission to extend the deadline for the Skipper appraisal project.

Fallers

Ashtead (LON:AHT), down 6% at 907p. The equipment hire firm, which makes most of its money in America, was the FTSE 100’s worst performer after US rival United Rentals reported weak earnings.

Arian Silver (LON:AGQ), down 40% at 1.12p. The Mexico focussed mining junior this morning revealed it had raised £750,000 with the issue of packaged units of shares and warrants priced at 1p each.

EU Supply (LON:EUSP), down 29% at 4.5p. The e-procurement software firm warned that some market in the UK had proved to be more saturated and more difficult to penetrate than expected. Revenues in its ‘business alert’ service are described as “disappointing”.

Risers

Solo Oil (LON:SOLO), up 9.26% to 0.29p. The oil and gas explorer got a boost as more than 200mln barrels of in-place oil (about 10mln barrels recoverable) was estimated for a new project on the Isle of Wight.

Stellar Diamonds (LON:STEL), up 10.5% at 10.5p. It told investors that a mining licence application for the Tongo Dyke-1 diamond project in Sierra Leone is making good progress.

Fallers

Asian Citrus (LON:ACHL), down 9% at 3.75p. The orange grower issued a profit warning, citing significant operational challenges, a drop in crop yield and lower prices.

Centrica (LON:CNA), down 4.2% at 201p. The British Gas owner earlier this week revealed plans to streamline its management teams in order to cut costs, and elsewhere today utilities rival SSE became the latest in the sector to drop its gas price (coming after a similar announcement from E.ON last week).
